Our Company History

Retro Maintenance LLC is a 100 year old, family owned and operated business serving New York City for 3 generations. John Stadnyk is the third generation and current President & CEO of Retro Maintenance.

Retro Maintenance LLC was founded as Stadnyk Window Cleaning Company in 1923 by John Stadnyk’s grandfather who came from Ukraine in 1912 to pursue the American dream. He came here unable to speak English and had little money in his pocket. He worked hard and became an American citizen. He worked for a few different cleaning companies performing window cleaning and floor cleaning services in New York City before opening his own business.

Right after World War II in the mid 1940’s, John’s father and uncle entered the business which they continued to operate until their retirement. John’s father performed post construction cleaning on newly constructed high-rise buildings all over New York state and in the 1960’s had a work force of over 35 personnel.

Retro Maintenance

John Stadnyk has worked with the company for over 45 years, starting out as a window cleaner and acquiring ownership in the 1980’s. While the original business concentrated on window washing and floor cleaning, when he first took over management and operations, John expanded the company’s services to include all types of cleaning, including: fine detailed Construction Cleanup, Commercial Cleaning, Power Washing, Floor Maintenance, FISP Local Law 11 Inspections, and now in these trying times, specialized COIVD-19 Spray Disinfecting Services.

During the twenty-teens, John updated the Stadnyk branded name to Retro Maintenance, the company’s new name and image that reflects the continued growth, valued past, and timeless service. Retro Maintenance is now a full-service cleaning contractor serving the entire tri-state area, with general liability insurance, workman’s compensation, and disability coverage.

Retro remains a family owned and operated business that has not lost the personal touch and dependable service that our customers have come to rely on. From window washing to power washing and everything in between, we have continued to give the highest quality and the most dependable cleaning services for our customers. Our work crews are highly trained, experienced professionals that are ready to meet all your cleaning needs.
